Mobile luxury camp

Day 1: Arrival.

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a Duma Afrika treks representative and transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay. Overnight at Fairmont Norfolk hotel.

Day 2: Nairobi-Masai Mara.

After our breakfast we shall be met by the company representatives for safari briefing. Later we depart to the Wilson airport for out local flight to Maasai Mara. This is one of the world’s greatest parks. On arrival at the airstrip you will be met by our driver who will transfer you to the Camp with game drive enroute. You may be rewarded with sights of plains game that include elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeests and others.   We check in at our luxurious mobile camp in time for our lunch. After our afternoon siesta, we depart for our first evening game drive in this wildlife rich destination.  We return to camp at dusk for hot shower as we wait for our dinner. At campfire we may engage in African folktales, enjoy a cup of coffee as we gaze in to the African sky with the breath taking Milky Way.

Day 2: Masai Mara. 

Today we have a half day game drive in the expansive reserve. We lookout for the wild cats this morning. From the big five to the small five of Africa. Enroute we shall stop by a local Maasai village to experience their way of life. We head back to camp for lunch. Late afternoon game drive and later return to our camp for dinner and overnight. Enjoy the campfire as we discuss what we expect for the next day and what we have so far accomplished in our safari.

Day 3: Masai Mara.

We head out after our breakfast again in search of African wildlife. Masai mara is also famous for it variety of birdlife. With the help of our guides we are in pursuit of animals that we can encounter enroute. We drive to MaraRiver for our moments with the crocodiles and hippos. We return to camp for hot lunch. An optional balloon safari can be arranged this morning. Enjoy a champagne breakfast on landing.

Late afternoon we drive to one of our sundowner point with game drive enroute.  Enjoy the spectacular African sunsets with a toast before we return to camp for dinner.

Day 4: Masai Mara.

Today we set out before sunrise. Enjoy a hot mug of coffee before departure. The big cats are known to be active during these wee hours. As we look out for them, we also enjoy the amazing sunrise in the horizon. Share amazing photo moments as the sun appears in the horizon.  We drive back to camp for breakfast.

Enjoy a lazy mid morning. You can engage in a walking safari into the remote surroundings of the camp. This gives an opportunity to experience nature first hand.

With a game drive enroute today we had out for our last dinner and bush cocktail in the one of the well prepared locations. Today we enjoy our last dinner in Masai mara under the stars. After a hearty meal, safari tales and toasts we shall drive back to camp for the night.

Day 5: Masai Mara- Nairobi

Today we enjoy our last game drive on the African soil. Return to camp for an early lunch. In the afternoon you shall be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Transfer to your next destination.

Mararal Camel derby

 Maralal camel derby is held in August in Mararal a town in Northern part of Kenya, Samburu County. In this part of the country the camel also called the ship of the desert is a very vital animal. The camel can withstand harsh temperatures and long hours without water in this dry region. It is used in these races by the locals and international attendees. The Camel derby brings together several ethnic tribes who do not always live in harmony.

Due to the harsh climatic conditions here these communities are severally entangled in disagreements, war and struggles due to scarcity of water.

The communities include Turkana, Samburu, Pokot cultures who are all pastoralists’ communities. Dances, traditional brews, artifacts and experiences with the Warriors also called Moran are the major attractions here. Cycling contest also runs con currently with the derby which can be done by professional or amateurs. A triathlon where you run, bike and race a camel is also held.

Mararal town is a stop over town for adventure seekers heading north to among Kenya’s most unspoilt wilderness destinations. The Maralal Camel  Derby brings about interaction, sharing and most of all fun to the people involved and Kenya community at large. Mararal is accessed by air to Nanyuki or isiolo then proceed by road. Accommodation can be at the Mararal safari lodge, Yare camel club or even camping. The Maralal camel derby is slowly becoming one of the best Kenya tourism promotions.
