A beautiful trail leads to her grave and research center at Karisoke where she dedicated her life to the conservation of these primates. Rwanda is also known for its (near-endemic) Golden monkeys
Places of interest include Akagera rich flora and fauna, Nyungwe which boasts of 26 endemic bird species, Parc national des Volcano home to a big group of mountain gorilla families and Lake Kivu which is is the deepest fresh water lake in the world.
